  • Install Octop on a Feiniu NAS

If you run a Feiniu (FnOS) NAS, install Octop from App Center like any other app. Download a versioned .fpk from the matching GitHub Release (for example v1.0.1). There is no rolling fnos-latest tag.

    Which package to pick

    PackageWhen to useAfter install, open
Docker (Octop-fnos-docker-<version>.fpk, about 8 KB)Docker is already installed on the NAShttp://<NAS-IP>:8088
Native (Octop-fnos-native-<version>.fpk, about 560 MB)You do not want to use Dockerhttp://<NAS-IP>:8089

The Docker package pulls ghcr.io/tencentcloud/octop:latest on first start. The native package runs Octop directly on the NAS with its own Python 3.12 runtime, browser automation, remote-desktop extras, and Chromium bundled.

    Install

    Download the package

Open the GitHub Release for your version and download Docker (Octop-fnos-docker-<version>.fpk) or Native (Octop-fnos-native-<version>.fpk).

    Install from App Center

On the NAS, go to App Center → Settings → Install app manually and choose the .fpk.

    Finish the wizard

The wizard asks for an administrator username. Choose Generate a random password (recommended) or enter your own. A custom password must be at least 8 characters with letters and digits. You can also set the log level and optional model API keys.

    Open Octop

Click the desktop icon Octop AI assistant, or open the URL for the package you installed.

    First sign-in

The install wizard asks for an administrator username and lets you Generate a random password (recommended) or enter your own. A custom password must be at least 8 characters with letters and digits; common values are rejected during install.

    • Find the password — open the app Settings window to see the current username and password. A copy is also saved as octop-login.txt in the data directory. The Docker package additionally writes the same credentials to /data/.octop/credential.txt inside the container.
    • Sign in — open the URL for your package with the username and password from the wizard.
    • Change it — after you sign in, click Change password in the avatar menu. On the Docker package you can also run docker exec -it octop octop user passwd <username> --password <password>. If you forget the password, see Reset password.
    WARNING

Do not leave the generated or bootstrap password in place on a NAS that is reachable from the network.
